Congressman Donald Norcross, who represents New Jersey’s 1st District, shared a series of tweets on March 11, 2025, addressing several issues of national concern. Norcross, serving in Congress since 2014 after replacing Rob Andrews, has been vocal about economic policies and social welfare programs.

On March 11 at 15:05 UTC, Norcross reflected on the impact of the American Rescue Plan enacted four years ago. He stated that it played a crucial role in stabilizing the economy by creating millions of new jobs and nearly doubling GDP growth. He expressed concerns over current Republican efforts to reverse these gains. "Four years ago, the American Rescue Plan was signed into law, helping to stabilize our economy by creating millions of new jobs and nearly doubling GDP growth. Today Republicans are working to roll back these gains for the American people, cutting jobs and taking money out of…"

Later that day at 17:41 UTC, Norcross highlighted potential consequences of cutting USDA programs aimed at local food purchases and school supplies. He warned that such cuts could lead to reduced access to fresh produce and other essentials for those in need within his community. "Cutting the USDA Local Food Purchase Assistance and Local Food for Schools programs means less fresh produce, protein, and dairy for those in need. In our community, this will have a devastating impact on our community food banks."

At 19:54 UTC on the same day, Norcross addressed comments made by former President Trump and Elon Musk regarding Social Security’s benefits database. He defended Social Security recipients in his district who rely on benefits they have contributed towards throughout their careers. "President Trump called Social Security’s benefits database a 'scam,' and now Elon Musk calls it a 'Ponzi scheme.' Millions of Americans are recipients of Social Security, including 153K in my district."
