Governor Murphy has signed a bipartisan bill into law that was sponsored by Senator Kristin Corrado. The legislation aims to establish healthcare requirements for pregnant women to develop postpartum care plans with their medical professionals.

Senator Corrado highlighted the importance of this new law, stating, "The physical and emotional demands of childbirth and caring for a newborn can be significant and at times, overwhelming. Unfortunately, postpartum symptoms can be difficult to identify and lead to complications, or worse, if left untreated." She added that by requiring healthcare professionals to provide information about personalized postpartum care plans, the law empowers mothers to prioritize their health during and after pregnancy. The goal is to reduce preventable pregnancy-related mortality and enhance women's healthcare overall.

For further inquiries or comments from Senator Corrado regarding this bill, Kyle Fischer, SRO director of communications, can be contacted at [email protected].
