Senator Doug Steinhardt has expressed his approval following the signing of legislation by Governor Murphy to aid New Jersey residents affected by Hurricane Ida. The senator, who co-sponsored the bill, highlighted the relief it brings to those impacted by the hurricane.

"For three long years, survivors of Hurricane Ida were ignored, overlooked, and unassisted—but today we can breathe a sigh of relief as our friends, neighbors, and fellow New Jerseyans who were forced to deal with this tragic situation will finally receive the necessary aid to get their lives back on track," said Senator Steinhardt. "I want to applaud the survivors who stood strong and continued to advocate for relief during this process, and while it took longer than we hoped, thank you to the Governor for getting this legislation signed into law."

Senator Steinhardt has been actively advocating for relief measures since Hurricane Ida's impact. In August, he urged Governor Murphy through a letter to approve legislation aimed at assisting those affected. In September, he responded publicly when Governor Murphy initially issued a conditional veto on the proposed legislation.
