The Camden County Police Department (CCPD) has received a $1 million allocation from the state of New Jersey to upgrade and enhance key components of its operating system. This investment follows an $8 million allocation made last summer.

Chief Gabriel Rodriguez emphasized the importance of these systems working together. "These new systems we are using in the city and soon in Woodlynne will continue to make us smarter in the way we execute our tasks and complete our objectives," Rodriguez stated. He highlighted the necessity of updating digital systems over time, noting that this funding will help keep their tactical center ahead of technological obsolescence.

Since its inception, CCPD has seen significant reductions in crime rates, including a 56% decrease in non-fatal shootings and a 55% decrease in shooting homicides since 2012.

Camden County Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. stressed the critical role of technology in their operations. "Our tactical room is the nerve center of the department, so it’s without question that these funds are going to assist us in keeping our community safe," Cappelli said. He expressed gratitude towards legislators for securing these funds.

State Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald noted the strategic advantage provided by advanced law enforcement technology. “Camden County Metro PD continues to improve safety in our neighborhoods by leveraging state-of-the-art law enforcement technology and effective community policing strategies," Greenwald remarked.

Camden Mayor Victor Carstarphen also spoke on the significance of this investment. “Once again, the state has shown that investing in law enforcement is a critical aspect to tackling crime,” Carstarphen said. He pointed out that CCPD's approach serves as a model for other communities, aided by continuous state investment.
