Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco expressed concern over the recent rise in New Jersey's average property tax bill, which has reached a new high of $10,000 per homeowner. In a statement, Bucco attributed this increase to what he described as "mismanagement and fiscal irresponsibility" by the Democratic leadership in Trenton.

Bucco criticized the current administration for failing to address key issues contributing to the tax burden. "This is completely unacceptable. It was predictable and preventable," he stated. He argued that New Jersey families are facing increased financial pressure due to "years of failed policies."

The senator highlighted specific areas where he believes Democratic leaders have fallen short. He claimed they are not adequately funding schools, reducing municipal aid, and misusing the Property Tax Relief Fund for unnecessary projects. According to Bucco, these actions have left residents with higher taxes during a challenging economic period.

"New Jersey residents are being hit with higher property taxes at a time when they can least afford it," Bucco said, emphasizing the difficult choices families must make as a result.

In his statement, Bucco urged residents not to accept the current policies: "Don’t buy what they’re selling." He concluded by asserting that "New Jersey deserves better" than what he termed as "tax-and-spend policies."
