Senator Holly Schepisi, representing the 39th district, has announced her plan to introduce a bill aimed at stopping hospitals from collecting information on the sexual orientation and gender identity of newborns and minors.
"Mandating that parents identify the sexual orientation and gender identity of their newborn child is an absurd waste of medical professionals' time and resources," stated Senator Schepisi. She emphasized that such a form "serves no practical medical purpose for the care of a newborn baby." Her proposed legislation seeks to overturn what she describes as a "ridiculous mandate passed by Trenton Democrats."
Senator Schepisi further expressed her viewpoint, saying, "Newborns need quality medical care when they enter this world, not a checklist of identity labels that have no relevance at birth." She criticized the current approach as "another example of Democrats pushing a political agenda instead of letting kids be kids."
