The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced a scheduled closure of the right lane on I-295 southbound for emergency repairs to the Federal City Road Bridge in Lawrence, Mercer County. The closure will occur tonight and is necessary due to damage caused by a truck carrying construction equipment that struck the bridge on Wednesday afternoon.
The right lane on I-295 southbound will be closed from 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, February 21, until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, February 22. At least two lanes will remain open during this period.
Additionally, the ramp from Federal City Road westbound to I-295 southbound will also be closed and detoured from 9 p.m. tonight until 5 a.m. tomorrow. The detour route directs motorists to continue on Federal City Road, turn right onto Ewingville Road, then right onto Route 31 northbound before taking the ramp to I-295 southbound.
NJDOT advises that the timing of the work may change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to visit NJDOT’s traffic information website for updates and real-time travel information.
