Senator Joe Pennacchio has reached out to Governor Murphy, urging the reinstatement of formula-based aid for municipalities in the fiscal year 2026 budget. This request follows the elimination of such aid from the fiscal year 2025 state budget.

In his letter to the governor, Pennacchio highlights the financial impact on municipalities within his legislative district due to a $150 million cut. He notes that "every municipality loses aid" and mentions Parsippany-Troy Hills Township as an example, which faces a loss of $468,956. The senator warns that these reductions could lead to property tax increases or affect local services if not addressed.
