Bipartisan legislation introduced by Senator Vince Polistina has successfully passed the Senate Labor Committee. The bill aims to expand family leave benefits to include parents grieving the loss of a child.

"Losing a child is an unimaginable tragedy and no parent should have to worry about losing their income during such a painful time," stated Senator Polistina. "This bill provides a compassionate, necessary update to our family leave policies, allowing grieving parents to take the time they need to heal without facing the added burden of financial stress."

The proposed legislation, known as S-2978, seeks to amend the New Jersey "Family Leave Act" by permitting employees to take family leave for bereavement due to the death of a child, miscarriage, stillbirth, or other specific circumstances.

"I am proud to advance this important legislation to support families at a time when they need it most," Polistina added.

For further information or inquiries with Senator Polistina, Jennifer Collins can be contacted via email.
