Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco has expressed his appreciation towards the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) for initiating a grant program aimed at supporting small businesses impacted by lane closures on Route 80. The closures have significantly affected businesses in Morris County, resulting in decreased revenue for many.

Bucco stated, “The ongoing lane closures on Route 80 have severely impacted small businesses in Morris County, causing a sharp decline in revenue for many that depend on steady customer traffic.” He emphasized the importance of these businesses as integral parts of the community, being owned and staffed by local residents including "families, friends, and neighbors."

Bucco acknowledged the difficulties faced by these businesses, which are struggling due to circumstances beyond their control. He expressed gratitude to Governor Murphy and the NJEDA for recognizing the challenges and implementing the Route 80 Business Assistance Grant Program. "This $5 million initiative will provide much-needed relief to affected businesses, helping them weather the financial challenges caused by these prolonged repairs," Bucco said.

Bucco conveyed his anticipation for the NJEDA Board’s approval of the initiative the following week and committed to continuing his efforts to advocate for the necessary support for small businesses.
