In response to the resignation letter of U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) renewed his call for Governor Phil Murphy to appoint a trusted and respected leader as a placeholder for the U.S. Senate seat.

“Now that Bob Menendez has submitted his resignation letter, it’s clear that New Jerseyans would be best served if Governor Murphy appoints a trusted and respected leader until the voters have their chance to elect who they believe will best represent them in the U.S. Senate,” said Sen. Bucco. “Enough with the back room deals that got us here, it’s time we begin repairing the Garden State’s reputation and commit to a fair and honest election without tipping the scales in anyone’s favor.”
