Senator Michael Testa (R-1) has called for Kevin Corbett to step down from his position as NJ Transit CEO due to persistent delays, cancellations, and service suspensions that have long frustrated commuters.

"Constantly railing on NJ Transit feels like we're beating a dead horse, but at this point a dead horse might be more efficient than riding NJ Transit," said Sen. Testa. "During the last six years, we've seen NJ Transit's service get considerably worse and commuters are being forced to pay more for unreliable transportation. In no world would an organization be able to continue business as usual while suffering so many failures."

Testa emphasized the need for real leadership and realistic solutions at NJ Transit, particularly for his constituents in South Jersey who have been underserved by public transit options. "I’ve been sounding the alarm for five years about the economic limitations associated with inadequate and non-existent service for commuters and it is beyond time for the agency to be held accountable."

Testa criticized the Murphy administration's approach of increasing funding and taxes without addressing core issues. "Simply throwing money at the problem and raising taxes, as the Murphy administration has done, is not going to help commuters. If Governor Murphy is serious about keeping his campaign promise to fix NJ Transit, considering a change of leadership over at NJ Transit would be a good place to start."

The lack of public transit options in South Jersey has also led to higher taxes for job creators in the region, further hampering economic growth and workforce development.
