Senator Carmen Amato, Jr., Assemblyman Brian Rumpf, and Assemblyman Greg Myhre have put forward a legislative proposal to address the concerns of school districts facing significant aid cuts under the state's school funding formula. The bill aims to limit the reduction of State school aid to a district to no more than one percent of the prior year's amount of aid.

Addressing the current situation, the 9th District Delegation stated, "Desperation has set in as the situation has reached a crisis level for too many school districts, including in our legislative district, targeted by the school funding formula for dramatic aid cuts." The delegation highlighted the financial losses faced by various school districts in their area, underscoring the challenges posed by the existing funding formula.

The legislators emphasized the urgency of the matter, pointing out the detrimental effects of the aid cuts on school districts and the broader educational community.
