Commissioner Melinda Kane recently commemorated the 100th birthday of World War II Veteran Anthony P. Simone. Simone, born in West Berlin in 1924, bravely served in the Army, notably participating in the Battle of the Bulge, one of the most significant battles of the war.
"Anthony is a remarkable person who displayed served his country during one of the most uncertain times in our nation’s history," expressed Commissioner Kane, who serves as the liaison to the Department of Veterans Affairs. She further added, "After his service, he has gone on to live a rich, fulfilling life with his family and has reached a milestone that very few people reach: turning 100 years old. I am honored to celebrate this momentous occasion with Anthony and his loved ones."
Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Anthony pursued a successful 45-year career as a skilled body and fender mechanic. Additionally, he has shared a loving marriage with his wife MaryAnn for an impressive 73 years.
The celebration of Anthony's remarkable life and service stands as a testament to his dedication to his country and his enduring spirit.
