Senate Minority Leader Anthony M. Bucco has expressed his views on Orsted's decision to withdraw from New Jersey's offshore wind project. Bucco emphasized the Republicans' earlier concerns about the project's sustainability, stating, "Republicans stated for months that Orsted’s offshore wind project was unsustainable and would inevitably fail." He further remarked, "Orsted’s decision today confirms that Republicans were right when we said this was too much, too fast, and too costly."

Bucco criticized the handling of the project by Democrats, noting, "Their financial challenges were glaringly obvious, yet Democrats ignored the warning signs to rush through Governor Murphy’s extreme energy master plan without any due diligence." He also highlighted the implications for taxpayers, stating, "This is just another example of how Governor Murphy’s outrageous energy master plan is coming back to hurt New Jersey taxpayers."

Acknowledging the efforts of certain representatives, Bucco credited them for exposing the negative impacts of Governor Murphy's offshore wind agenda. He emphasized the need for transparency regarding the project's expenses, stating, "The public deserves to know how much money has been wasted on this epic boondoggle." Bucco reiterated the Republicans' commitment to ensuring a strong and diverse energy portfolio for New Jersey, stating, "Republicans stand ready to meet this challenge and to ensure that New Jersey’s energy portfolio is strong, safe, transparent, diverse, and fair."

In conclusion, Bucco reaffirmed the call for Republican leadership in addressing energy-related challenges, emphasizing the warning issued by Senate Republicans earlier about Orsted's financial issues.
