Senator Declan O'Scanlon, Assemblywoman Victoria Flynn, and Assemblyman Gerry Scharfenberger from Monmouth County have joined forces to call for New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to take action in preventing New York City from using Atlantic City Airport as a solution to its immigration issues. The legislators of the 13th District, in a bipartisan effort, have raised their concerns regarding the situation.

The Legislators of the 13th District emphasized that New Jersey should not bear the consequences of failed Democratic policies affecting both Americans and immigrants. They stressed the need for Governor Phil Murphy and U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker to stand firm against the attempts to shift responsibilities onto New Jersey. The District also expressed their discontent with the federal government and the Biden Administration for neglecting their duties in addressing the immigration crisis.

In a statement, the Legislative District 13 conveyed their firm stance, stating, "We will not sit idly by to become a sanctuary to host their failures nor those of other neighboring states." They called for immediate action to safeguard the interests of New Jersey residents and ensure that immigrants are properly vetted before entering an American airport. The District urged for a resolution that does not compromise the welfare of New Jerseyans.
