Data from the United Nations also shows that this violence intensified during the COVID pandemic

According to the World Health Organization, almost one in three women globally experienced physical and/or sexual violence at least once in their lifetime. Data from the United Nations also shows that this violence intensified during the COVID pandemic. That’s why every October, for more than two decades, YWCA Northern New Jersey has proudly joined YWCA chapters around the world to observe a Week Without Violence to raise awareness and engage in action to end the broad spectrum of violence.

While we've seen progress in creating resources, services, and institutions to protect women and girls, we still have much to do to build a culture free from gender-based violence. Join us October 17-22 for this year’s Week Without Violence to help spread awareness and take action through daily activations to ensure that we are centering the needs of survivors in today's most pressing issues—from reproductive health restrictions to Get-Out-The-Vote efforts. Together, we can advocate for solutions and create an everlasting culture without violence. Visit ywcaweekwithoutviolence.org to learn more.
