Burlington County Prosecutor's Office issued the following announcement.
Burlington County Acting Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw and Beverly City Public Safety Director Rich Wolbert announced that a man was fatally shot early this morning inside a Beverly City residence.
A suspect is in custody. More information will be released later today.
The shooting, which was reported to police at approximately 1:15 a.m., precipitated a standoff with law enforcement that lasted several hours. A woman and four children were released unharmed. The suspect surrendered just after 8:30 a.m.
Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted.
