Even against odds, New Jersey conservative voters made voices heard out of 'a greater sense of urgency about this 2020 election' one voter says

Of the approximately 6 million mail-in ballots sent out to New Jersey residents during the recent election, approximately 3.6 million were returned, comprising the majority of the approximately 4.5 million votes cast in New Jersey.

While the state went overwhelmingly for President-elect Joe Biden, who took 57.2% of the vote in the Garden state according to 270 To Win; conservative New Jersey voters still made their voices heard, casting approximately 1.9 million votes for President Donald Trump.

Francesca Nordin, a voter from Rockaway Township, told the Garden State Times she voted early, though she hand-delivered her ballot rather than mailing it in.

Even living in a Democrat-dominated state, Nordin told the Garden State Times that voting in the presidential race was very important to her.

"I think it's bigger than the personalities of the people that are running," said Nordin, "I think it's a call for which way our government, which way our country's going to go."

Nordin told the Garden State Times she feels the choice between Biden and Trump was one between staying true to the founding principles of a constitutional republic and "lurching more towards socialism and marxism, and more federal controls of our lives."

"I've voted in every election, but I do have a greater sense of urgency about this 2020 election," said Nordin.

Still, Nordin states that the presidential race was not the only important one to her.

"The local election, I reached out to people running for the school board, I asked them specifically what they believe in, I told them things that I was concerned about," said Nordin.

She said that by communicating with the candidates who responded, she has established that she can reach out to those who were elected in the future in order to voice her concerns.
