The Senate Transportation Committee has approved a bill aimed at eliminating fees for special license plates issued to firefighters and first aid or rescue squad members. This legislation, identified as S-3366, is sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco and Senator Kristin M. Corrado.

Currently, the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission charges a $15 fee for these specialty plates. The proposed legislation seeks to remove this charge in recognition of the vital role that first responders play in safeguarding communities across New Jersey.

"We are honored to advance legislation that provides meaningful financial relief to our brave firefighters and first responders, enabling them to display their dedication with pride," stated Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco. "Eliminating this fee reflects our unwavering support and deep appreciation for the sacrifices they make to keep our communities safe."

Senator Kristin M. Corrado echoed this sentiment: "First responders put their lives on the line every day, often as volunteers, to ensure the safety and well-being of others," she said. "Removing this financial burden is a small but important way we can show our gratitude for their dedication and service."
