On Thursday, the Camden County Board of Commissioners, in collaboration with Camden County Technical Schools and Camden County College, recognized eight middle schools for their outstanding character education programs. These schools were honored with the Camden County Middle School of Character Award for their emphasis on values such as respect, trustworthiness, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
Commissioner Jonathan Young, who serves as a liaison to Camden County Technical Schools, stated: “The schools selected go above and beyond when it comes to instilling character education into our young people. This framework for learning will not only give our students here in Camden County the opportunity to be set up for success in all aspects of their lives, but it will also produce a new generation of kind, respectful and trustworthy individuals who are ready to take on the world.”
The awarded schools include:
- Bell Oaks School in Bellmawr under Principal Anthony Farinelli and Superintendent Danielle Sochor.
- Dr. Henry H. Davis Family School in Camden led by Principal Sharon Woodridge and Superintendent Katrina McCombs.
- Henry C. Beck Middle School in Cherry Hill with Principal Rebecca Metzger and Superintendent Dr. Kwame R. Morton.
- Mary E. Volz in Runnemede headed by Principal Steve Pili and Superintendent Mark Iannucci.
- Samuel S. Yellin School in Stratford managed by Principal Caitlin Holloway and Superintendent Renee Egan.
- Somerdale Park School in Somerdale where Robert Ford serves as both Principal and Superintendent.
- Woodland Middle School in Barrington under Principal Michael Silvestri and Superintendent Anthony Arcodia.
- Woodlynne School in Woodlynne where Jackie Walters is both Superintendent and Principal.
