Commissioner Jonathan Young of the Camden County Department of Public Safety has issued a Code Blue Advisory for Camden County, starting Sunday evening and lasting until Wednesday morning. This advisory is in response to an expected drop in temperatures, which could pose a threat to public safety.

Young emphasized the importance of residents staying indoors during this period: “The temperature is set to drop dangerously low, so it is critical that everyone is inside and away from the elements,” he said. He also urged residents to ensure that elderly individuals, those with disabilities, and pets are kept warm and safe.

The advisory will be effective at the following times:

- 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 12 to 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13

- 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14

- All day Tuesday, Jan. 14

Municipalities within Camden County are expected to implement their Code Blue response plans for homeless or transient populations during this period.

Young provided tips for pet safety during cold weather conditions, including keeping pets indoors when temperatures fall below freezing and ensuring they have adequate shelter if outside.

Residents seeking shelter can contact their local municipalities for assistance in finding warming centers.

In case of power outages, residents are advised to report directly to their utility providers:

- PSE&G: 1-800-436-PSEG (7734)

- Atlantic City Electric: 1-800-833-7476

- South Jersey Gas: 1-800-582-7060
