Senator Doug Steinhardt has urged the Assembly Speaker and Senate President to form a bipartisan panel to investigate the drone situation in New Jersey. The senator expressed concerns about unidentified drones appearing over critical military and infrastructure areas, as well as private homes, often during nighttime hours.

In his letter addressed to Senate President Scutari and Assembly Speaker Coughlin, Steinhardt stated that the issue has caused anxiety among residents in the 23rd legislative district. He criticized the responses from Governor Murphy and other officials, suggesting they have been insufficient and evasive.

Steinhardt's proposal calls for a bipartisan committee to gather statements, pose questions, and subpoena documents if necessary. The aim is to ensure transparency and address public safety concerns effectively. "Public safety should be the only issue right now," he emphasized in his letter.

The senator also volunteered himself along with two others to serve on any such committee that might be formed.
