For months, a former gas station off the westbound lanes of Admiral Wilson Boulevard has been closed and deteriorating. This site has become a hotspot for graffiti, illegal dumping, squatting, and other criminal activities due to its neglected state. On Tuesday, city officials gathered to address the absentee landlord and charged the owner, Pontus Capital Shell Portfolio LLC, with the responsibility of cleaning up and maintaining the property.

The property continues to accumulate code violations and has become a symbol of blight throughout Camden City. In response, city and county authorities plan to consolidate several departments on-site to bring the property back into compliance. Violations will be documented, and a lien will be placed on the property to cover public service costs.

Commissioner Al Dyer stated: “I want to commend the mayor, city council and all of the public servants who will be on site to send a clear message to this unscrupulous property owner that this will not be accepted in Camden City.” He added: “I grew up in the city and work here and I know that there are individuals that own property in Camden and have never stepped foot in the city. It’s clear from the general disregard of this property and the residents that live around it we needed to take proactive measures.”
