This week, the Camden County Department of Health and Human Services, in collaboration with healthcare partners, will offer free vaccinations for uninsured children and those with only Medicaid Part A in Clementon and Camden. The clinics are part of a new initiative to prepare children and families in Camden County for the upcoming school year.
“The back-to-school season is here so if you haven’t already, please take advantage of one of these clinics to get your child up to date on their vaccines,” said Commissioner Virginia Betteridge, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services. “It is imperative that children are caught up on these vaccines, so they are in the classroom and ready to learn on the first day of school.”
At the vaccination drives, children can receive various required vaccinations as well as speak with representatives from the Osbourne Family Health Center to assist in insurance applications for families. For children behind on vaccines, the Health Department can make appointments for families to get up to date with all vaccines at one of its health first care and wellness centers.
The following required vaccinations will be available:
- Ages 4 to 6: DTap, polio, and MMR vaccines
- Ages 11 and 12: Tdap and meningococcal vaccines
- Age 16: meningococcal vaccine
Vaccination sites for the week of August 26 are as follows:
- August 27 at Clementon Elementary School, 4 Audubon Ave., Clementon from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
- August 29 at the Wiggins Center - Health First Care and Wellness Center, 400 Mt. Vernon Street, Camden from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m.
