Next month, the Board of Commissioners will commence a $1.3 million construction project to renovate two playgrounds in Newton Lake Park. The Newton Lake and Haddon Creek playgrounds are popular amenities within the 103-acre park, frequented by hundreds of children and families daily.

The renovation will involve installing new playground equipment, ADA-accessible poured-in-place rubber surfacing, picnic tables, benches, and ADA-accessible paths.

“These improvements are necessary to ensure that these treasured community assets can continue serving our children and families for years to come,” said Commissioner Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the Parks Department. “These playgrounds are two highlights of Newton Lake Park and we cannot wait to unveil the new and improved sites later this fall.”

The project is set to break ground in August and is expected to take approximately 90 days to complete.

Newton Lake Park spans over 103 acres through Collingswood, Oaklyn, and Haddon Township. It is bounded by Cuthbert Boulevard and the White Horse Pike. The park's amenities include two playgrounds, three picnic areas, 2.43 miles of bike paths, three fishing piers, Matrimony Garden, and a boat ramp.
