In Blackwood, NJ, the Board of Commissioners, along with the Camden County Certified Gardeners, are gearing up to host their annual plant sale on Saturday, April 27. The event will take place at the Sustainability Campus at 508 Lakeland Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., come rain or shine.
Commissioner Jonathan Young, who serves as the liaison to the Office of Sustainability, expressed excitement about the upcoming plant sale, stating, "We look forward to this event each year because it is a wonderful opportunity for our residents to get their hands on a wide variety of plants and supplies to grow their own gardens." Young also encouraged participation by mentioning, "Gardeners can purchase annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and more, so please join us on Saturday for the sale."
The event will not only offer a diverse selection of plants and gardening supplies but will also feature a plant clinic, interactive workshops, and activities for children. In addition, attendees will have the opportunity to acquire a six-pack of native plants, including species like goldenrod, swamp milkweed, tickseed, and coneflower.
Highlighting the importance of planting native species, Commissioner Young emphasized, "Planting native species is essential to maintaining biodiversity and preserving the environment." He further urged gardeners to contribute to the conservation efforts by stating, "We encourage our gardeners to pick up a pack of native plants to help support native species here in Camden County."
Garden enthusiasts and nature lovers are encouraged to mark their calendars and join the Commissioners and Certified Gardeners for a day of plant shopping and environmental awareness at the annual plant sale in Blackwood.
