Residents of Camden County are coming together to celebrate Earth Day 2024, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living practices. In a call to action, individuals are encouraged to take steps to protect the planet for future generations.

"As Camden County residents, here are some ways to take part in celebrating Earth Day today and every day," said a county official. Activities include participating in the Great Global Cleanup, supporting local growers, volunteering at wildlife sanctuaries, starting a seed swap, hiking trails, and becoming an environmental advocate.

The Great Global Cleanup initiative aims to create cleaner environments for residents by organizing local clean-up events. Residents are urged to get involved in upcoming volunteer clean-ups to make a positive impact on the environment. Supporting local growers by choosing fresh produce and native plants from nearby nurseries is another way to reduce the carbon footprint associated with long-distance transportation.

"Volunteer at a Wildlife Sanctuary," the official advised animal lovers and Earth warriors. By connecting with local wildlife refuge organizations or Camden County's Animal Alliance, individuals can contribute to the protection and preservation of the planet's biodiversity.

Residents are also encouraged to start a Seed Swap through the efforts of Camden County Certified Gardener volunteers. The Seed Saving Library provides free seeds to all residents, promoting sustainability and preserving genetic diversity for future generations.

In addition, individuals are invited to hike the trails and clean up the wilderness, contributing to the preservation of open space and natural habitats. By participating in trail-building and maintenance activities, residents can help protect forests and grasslands for future generations.

"Earth Day is a reminder that we all have a role to play in protecting our planet," emphasized the county official. Residents are encouraged to become environmental advocates by taking action in their communities, whether by educating others, reducing plastic waste, or advocating for cleaner waterways.

As Camden County celebrates Earth Day 2024, the community is uniting in efforts to make a positive impact on the environment and promote sustainable living practices.
