Senator Doug Steinhardt (R-23) has put forth a comprehensive package of tough-on-crime public safety measures in New Jersey, aimed at enhancing security and protecting property rights in the state.

In a recent statement, Sen. Steinhardt emphasized the need for stricter consequences for criminal behavior and accountability for those who abuse the system. He highlighted the importance of addressing issues such as squatting and home invasions, stating, "Everyone has a right to feel safe and secure in their home."

Among the bills introduced by Senator Steinhardt is S-3093, which aims to expedite proceedings against squatters and hold them liable for legal fees and damages. Additionally, S-3129 seeks to upgrade the crime of home invasion to a second-degree offense with harsher penalties.

Furthermore, Sen. Steinhardt introduced S-3099, a stand your ground law that allows for the justified use of force in self-defense situations, including deadly force when necessary. He emphasized that these bills offer practical solutions to persistent problems affecting communities across the state.

In response to unlawful protests disrupting highways and public passages, Sen. Steinhardt proposed bill S-3103, which would create separate crimes for individuals who purposefully block roadways and increase penalties for such actions. He stressed the potential dangers and disruptions caused by these protests, impacting commerce and emergency response efforts.

Senator Steinhardt's proactive approach towards public safety legislation underscores his commitment to protecting communities and families in New Jersey.
