On April 16, 2024, the Camden County Miracle League marked the beginning of the spring baseball season with a joyous Opening Day event. Commissioner Deputy Director Ed McDonnell expressed his excitement, stating, "It is such a privilege and an honor to be able to bring the joy of baseball to these children and their families."

The Miracle League field, designed for children in wheelchairs or who use walkers, provides a safe environment for them to enjoy America's favorite pastime. McDonnell emphasized the importance of the field, saying, "This field provides children with disabilities the opportunity to participate in America’s favorite pastime."

The Boundless Field, which opened in 2013, features baselines that are 50 feet apart and a distance of 125 feet from home plate to the center field fence. More than 100 children and adults with special needs, along with community volunteers, will gather at the venue every weekend throughout the spring season.

During Miracle League games, every player bats once per inning, is not called out on the bases, scores a run each inning, and both teams are considered winners. Players are paired with "buddies" who assist them during the game, creating a supportive and inclusive environment on the field.

McDonnell reiterated the league's commitment to inclusivity, stating, "All children, regardless of physical ability, deserve to play and have fun." The Camden County Miracle League is part of the Commissioner Board’s Division of Programming for People with Disabilities, which also oversees various activities for individuals with special needs.

The league's efforts align with the vision of John Adler Park, a fully accessible facility that includes the region's first boundless playground, Jake's Place.
