Senator Doug Steinhardt (R-23) has commended the recent allocation of a Local Transportation Project Fund Grant to Phillipsburg for Roseberry Street Pedestrian Safety. In a statement, Steinhardt expressed gratitude for the collaborative efforts that led to this development, stating, "I had the pleasure of meeting with top local officials in the Spring to address transportation safety and congestion concerns with DOT representatives. We had a very productive meeting, and I am pleased to know that Phillipsburg will be receiving money to address these critical issues. I am thankful for Commissioner Diane Guiterrez-Scaccetti's partnership and all of her work in helping secure this investment."

The grant, totaling $375,000, was awarded by the NJDOT to address pedestrian and traffic safety in Phillipsburg. This funding comes as a result of a series of discussions and assessments conducted earlier in the year. Senator Steinhardt, alongside local officials and the New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner, toured the district to evaluate various road projects requiring state assistance. The focus was on identifying solutions for emerging traffic problems and addressing aging infrastructure and intersections.

Phillipsburg Councilman Randy Piazza Jr also expressed appreciation for the grant, stating, "I am grateful to NJDOT Commissioner Guiterrez-Scaccetti and Senator Steinhardt for touring Phillipsburg last April, for hearing my concerns regarding pedestrian and traffic safety, and for delivering on her promise to take a serious look at our needs. This is great news for the town of Phillipsburg." The councilman's remarks underscore the collaborative efforts between local officials and state representatives in addressing critical safety and infrastructure needs within the community.
