Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco and Senator Holly Schepisi have criticized Governor Murphy's decision to appoint Christine Guhl-Sadovy as the President of the Board of Public Utilities (BPU). Bucco expressed his concerns, stating, "It is deeply troubling that Governor Murphy is doubling down on his unpopular and extreme energy master plan. Christine's predetermined views on New Jersey's energy policies are a red flag for anyone paying attention to the rising cost of energy." He further added, "New Jersey cannot afford to be doubling down on Governor Murphy's misguided energy priorities with a rubber stamp at the BPU."

Senator Schepisi echoed similar sentiments, questioning Guhl-Sadovy's record on offshore wind and the electrification of the State. Schepisi criticized the decision, stating, "Governor Murphy has a history of making poor judgement calls but choosing Guhl-Sadovy to serve as BPU president is one of his more insane decisions." She highlighted Guhl-Sadovy's support for the extreme energy master plan and her activist record, expressing concerns about the impact on working families. Schepisi emphasized, "It's clear that he's doubling down on his ill-fated energy plans."

The appointment of Christine Guhl-Sadovy has sparked controversy and raised questions about Governor Murphy's energy priorities, with Senate Republicans expressing reservations about her suitability for overseeing the State's energy policies.
