Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco (R-25) has announced a petition to encourage virtual hearings for New Jersey Transit's proposed fare hike. Bucco emphasized the importance of allowing the public to express their concerns about the proposed rate increases without the constraints of in-person meetings.

"The public has a right to express their concerns about the Murphy administration's proposed 15% rate fare hikes on public transit riders. Unfortunately, people do not always have the ability or time to attend in-person meetings," said Bucco.

New Jersey Transit recently revealed plans for 10 in-person hearings to gather public input on the proposed fare hikes. However, these hearings do not include virtual participation options, either via phone or online. In response, Senate Republicans are urging New Jersey Transit to incorporate virtual options to ensure that all residents who wish to voice their opinions have the opportunity to do so.

The petition, spearheaded by Senate Republicans, aims to push for inclusivity and accessibility in the public feedback process regarding the proposed fare increases. Residents interested in supporting the call for virtual hearings can view and sign the petition by following the link provided.
