Senator Joe Pennacchio has strongly criticized the Murphy Administration's actions, stating that they have no authority to override parental rights. Pennacchio's comments came after a new FDU poll indicated that the majority of New Jerseyans believe parents should have control over what is taught in schools.

Pennacchio condemned the administration and the State Legislature, accusing them of infringing on parents' moral and constitutional rights. He expressed concern over the state positioning itself as the ultimate decision-maker under the guise of diversity, equity, and inclusion, while neglecting to address declining test scores.

Describing the state's actions as using children as political pawns, Pennacchio highlighted the negative impact on students, leading to anxiety and depression. He criticized the administration's curriculum, stating that it affects all grades and subjects, with a top-down approach from Trenton that has sparked strong reactions from parents across party lines.

The senator emphasized the unified response from parents, stating, "Their request is simple, 'stay away from our kids.'" This sentiment reflects the widespread opposition to the state's involvement in school curricula and the desire for parents to retain authority over their children's education.
