Senator Kristin Corrado (R-40) strongly criticized the Murphy administration for its handling of a Department of Justice (DOJ) report that highlighted inadequate care provided to veterans in New Jersey. Corrado expressed her disappointment, stating, "It is abundantly clear based on the response of the Murphy administration that they take no accountability for their ill-managed oversight of State-run veterans homes."
Corrado emphasized the severity of the situation, pointing out that the mistreatment of veterans occurred under Governor Murphy's leadership. She stressed the need for accountability, stating, "The conditions of these homes were abhorrent, and it is completely unacceptable that residents in these homes received inadequate care."
Furthermore, Corrado called out the lack of action from the Democratic party, noting, "It is a travesty that Democrats refused to act when Republicans made these issues apparent during legislative sessions." She urged for immediate steps to hold the Murphy administration responsible, stating, "It is time to do what the Legislature should have done three years ago and hold the Murphy administration accountable."
The DOJ report has brought to light serious concerns regarding the care provided to veterans in New Jersey, with Corrado's statements underscoring the urgent need for accountability and improvement in oversight of State-run veterans homes.
