WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) issued the following statement in response to Dr. Adriana Kugler, President Biden’s nominee to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, advancing out of the Senate Banking Committee:

“Today I proudly voted to advance Dr. Adriana Kugler’s nomination out of the Senate Banking Committee. Dr. Kugler has the credentials, a long record of accomplishments, and the temperament that will make her a valuable and historic addition to the Federal Reserve Board of Governors as it works to fulfill its dual mandate.

“Simply put, we are witnessing history continue to unfold in real time as we usher a new chapter at Federal Reserve, which for 109 years has never had a Latino American serve in the upper echelons of its leadership. Dr. Kugler’s presence on the Board of Governors will ensure that for the first time in our nation’s history the 62 million Americans who call this nation home will finally have a seat at the table where the most consequential decisions on monetary policy are made. I want to thank all my colleagues, including Senator Rounds, who came together to make this a bipartisan vote today and I urge all of my colleagues to join me in assuring Dr. Kugler’s swift confirmation.”
