OPINION: Hirsh Singh: I Am The Law and Order Candidate

Singhing

All Americans have a right to feel safe in their homes and their communities.

Safe communities facilitate economic opportunity and empower people to exercise their freedoms and achieve their American Dream. Last summer, we all saw just how important our police are as our cities came under attack by radical leftist groups who defaced historical monuments, looted businesses, and threatened law-abiding citizens. When liberal city governments inhibited law enforcement from responding to these brazen acts of violence, the chaos spiraled out of control in cities like Portland and Minneapolis. The lesson was clear: civilized society cannot exist unless government empowers law enforcement to do their job and stop criminals.

On June 8th, New Jerseyans have an obvious choice to make when it comes to defending law and order and supporting our men and women in blue. I have strongly opposed the radical and dangerous “Defund the Police” movement from the beginning and will always have the back of our law enforcement personnel. We must send a clear message that New Jersey will not tolerate riots and lawlessness, and that we will punish anyone who violates our laws.

Instead of giving our police and first responders less money, the government should provide them with more resources to keep our streets safe and crack down on crime. For too long, police precincts across our state have been stretched thin by budget cuts and hostile Democrat policies. We need to hire more officers and empower them with only the best training and equipment to ensure they can do their jobs effectively and efficiently.

Additionally, we must support our police officers after they complete their term of service. That is why I am guaranteeing that, as governor, I will never take one penny from the first responder pension plan. When a police officer puts their life in danger to protect the lives of others, they should be confident that they and their family will be cared for no matter what. It is the least that we can do for their service and sacrifice.

Most conservatives used to share my commitment to supporting law enforcement. Unfortunately my opponent Jack Ciattarelli, along with many other Never Trump and RINO Republicans, has symbolically “taken the knee” to the radical left and submitted to the Defund the Police agenda. Jack wants to gut the first responder pension plan, abandoning our great law enforcement men and women so that rioters and looters can run our streets in the name of “social justice.”

As governor, Jack would continue Phil Murphy’s administrative war on police, jeopardizing the safety of hard-working Americans. We can’t allow Jack to take office and simply pick up right where Murphy left off. We must defeat Jack and the Never Trumpers and once again stand up for law enforcement in our state. I’m urging all New Jerseyans to vote for me on June 8th to do just that, and once again make our state a great place to live, work, and raise a family.
