The U.S. Trustee Program will implement virtual section 341 meetings of creditors in chapter 11 cases using the Zoom for government platform in the District of New Jersey, effective June 9, according to an announcement on June 3.

The change means that participants in chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings will join required creditor meetings remotely rather than appearing in person. The new process applies specifically to the District of New Jersey and is intended to streamline meeting logistics for all parties involved.

According to the announcement, more information and instructions for joining a meeting are available at https://www.justice.gov/ust/ch11moc.

Section 341 meetings, also known as meetings of creditors, are a standard part of bankruptcy proceedings where debtors answer questions from creditors and trustees about their financial affairs and proposed plans. Traditionally held in person, these meetings have increasingly moved online following technological advancements and changes prompted by recent events affecting court operations nationwide.

This implementation follows similar efforts across other jurisdictions as courts adapt procedures for remote participation.
