The Camden County Police Foundation has received a $56,930 donation from the Timken Foundation to support the Camden County Police Department’s K-9 Unit. The funding will be used to add a new dog to the unit, which currently consists of eight teams trained in patrol operations, narcotics detection, explosive device detection, community engagement, and emotional support.
Commissioner Director Louis Cappelli Jr. commented on the importance of the donation: “This generous contribution from the Timken Foundation will allow the Camden County Police Department to add a new K-9 to the unit. Our K-9 teams play a vital role in keeping our community safe, and this donation ensures the continued success of the K9 program.”
Chief Gabriel Rodriguez highlighted how these units contribute both to public safety and community relations. “Our K-9 unit strengthens public safety, while creating opportunities for our officers to connect with the community,” he said. “We are grateful to the Timken Foundation for their partnership and support of our mission.”
Mayor Victor Carstarphen also addressed how this funding supports law enforcement efforts: “The safety of our residents is our top priority, and this contribution directly supports that mission. Thank you to the Timken Foundation for helping us continue to protect and serve the people of Camden.”
Commissioner Jennifer Fleisher emphasized that beyond their operational roles, police dogs help foster connections between officers and residents. “Not only do these dogs contribute to the department through their specialized training, but they also help bring people together,” she said. “With this contribution, our K-9 unit can continue to serve as a link between officers and residents.”
