The legislation seeks to address challenges faced by fire departments in finding qualified inspectors and managing staffing shortages.

Senator Bucco emphasized the importance of these updates, stating, “Updating our fire safety standards will make it easier for departments to find fire inspectors and address burdensome staffing shortages.” He further explained that filling these roles would help streamline the inspection process, ultimately enhancing fire safety.
