WASHINGTON, D.C. - On May 2, U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez (both D-N.J.) applauded the Senate confirmation of Michael Farbiarz and Judge Robert Kirsch to serve on the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. Senator Booker is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"I am thrilled that the Senate has confirmed Michael Farbiarz and Judge Robert Kirsch to the federal bench in New Jersey. They are both highly qualified and committed to upholding the law and serving their communities with integrity,” said Senator Booker. “As a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, I had the opportunity to closely review their records and get to know them during their nomination process. I have no doubt that they will serve the people of New Jersey with integrity and honor and will bring their wealth of legal knowledge and experience to the federal bench. I want to thank my colleagues in the Senate for their bipartisan support in confirming these nominations and I look forward to continuing to work with them to ensure that our courts remain just and strong for all."

“Michael Farbiarz and Robert Kirsch are two remarkable, dedicated, and exceptionally well-qualified nominees to serve on the U.S. District Court of New Jersey. In their various roles, they have each served the Garden State with distinction — demonstrating that their wealth of experience and steadfast commitment to fairness will surely be assets as they preside over cases on the federal bench,” said Senator Menendez. “With their confirmation today, Senator Booker and I have succeeded in getting not one, not two, but eight judicial nominees confirmed by the full Senate, putting an end to the crisis of vacancies in New Jersey that was labeled a ‘judicial emergency’ at the start of the last Congress.”

Senator Booker has served on the Senate Judiciary Committee since 2018. He has been a leader in the Senate on criminal justice and policing reform since he was first elected in 2013. Booker has introduced numerous criminal justice reform proposals, including: the Fair Chance Act, the CARERS Act, the MERCY Act, the Dignity for Incarcerated Women Act, the Second Look Act, the Justice in Policing Act, and the EQUAL Act. He was also a key architect of the most sweeping overhaul of the criminal justice system in decades, the First Step Act, which was signed into law in 2018.
