Last week, Senator Owen Henry (R-12) visited the Old Bridge Animal Shelter to mark International Dog Day and highlight the role of local shelters and adoption programs during Clear the Shelters Month.
During his visit, Senator Henry spoke about adopting a dog from the shelter earlier this year. He recounted his experience with Winston, a 2-year-old Bichon Frisé who was found abandoned in a trash bin in Old Bridge. The dog spent almost 12 hours outside on a cold January night before being rescued by maintenance workers. Now, Winston is living with Senator Henry.
“Winston has brought so much joy to our family since we adopted him,” said Sen. Henry. “His story is just one example of how every animal deserves a second chance and how rewarding it can be to open your home to a pet in need.”
Senator Henry encouraged others to consider adoption from local shelters.
