Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco expressed his appreciation for the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) and the State Police for their efforts in repairing route I-80 under difficult conditions.

“The NJDOT and State Police have been working tirelessly to repair and reopen the I-80 highway. I want to commend Commissioner O’Connor and the NJDOT for their responsiveness and adapting detour routes with the cooperation of local officials to ensure the public’s safety,” stated Sen. Bucco. He acknowledged that while these repairs might lead to temporary inconveniences, he urged travelers, residents, and businesses to remain patient as work continues.

Bucco assured that he would keep monitoring the situation closely and provide updates when available. He also encouraged individuals to reach out to his office if they have questions or need assistance.

The NJDOT has collaborated with local officials to enhance signage and Variable Message Signs (VMS) on I-80 and detour routes affected by the construction. Additionally, there will be an increase in State Police presence at key intersections.

Motorists are advised to visit NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for updates on construction and real-time travel information. For further news from NJDOT, follow them on X (Twitter) @NewJerseyDOT, Facebook, or Instagram @NewJersey.DOT.
