Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco has issued a statement condemning a cyberattack that disrupted a virtual meeting of the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC).

“I strongly condemn the unacceptable and deeply troubling cyberattack that disrupted today’s public meeting of the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC). This kind of malicious interference is not only an attack on a government body—it’s an attack on the democratic process itself,” stated Senator Bucco.

He expressed his support for ELEC Chairman Thomas Prol’s request for a comprehensive investigation by the Attorney General into the incident. “I fully support ELEC Chairman Thomas Prol’s call for the Attorney General to launch a full investigation into this breach. The people of New Jersey deserve transparency and accountability, especially when it comes to the integrity of our electoral systems,” he said.

Senator Bucco emphasized the importance of identifying and prosecuting those responsible for the hack. “Let me be clear: those responsible for this hack must be identified and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. We cannot and will not allow bad actors to undermine confidence in our institutions or disrupt the essential work of public service.”
