The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee has approved a bill introduced by Senator Parker Space, a Republican representing the 24th District. The bill proposes to allocate $3,750,990 from Corporate Business Tax revenue to the State Agriculture Development Committee (SADC) for the purpose of farmland preservation.

Senator Space emphasized the importance of this initiative: “As someone with strong ties to the farming community, I know first-hand how important it is to keep working farmland in production to help keep farmers on the farm. This bill is about more than preserving land, it’s about preserving a way of life. Using these funds will give our counties the tools and resources they need to protect agriculture for generations to come and benefit the many New Jerseyans who enjoy the fruits of that labor.”

For those interested in reviewing the specifics of this legislative proposal, full details can be found under Bill S-4551.
