The Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee has approved a bipartisan bill sponsored by Senator Robert Singer (R-30) to establish a state licensing system for source plasma donation centers in New Jersey.
“Plasma-based therapies are essential for treating patients with rare and chronic conditions,” said Sen. Singer. “This legislation strengthens oversight to help ensure donation centers operate safely, protecting both donors and the patients who depend on these lifesaving treatments.”
The proposed legislation, S-4338, would require plasma donation centers to obtain an annual license from the Department of Health. The bill sets out safety, staffing, and operational standards specific to plasma collection facilities.
Under the bill, the Commissioner of Health would have authority to inspect centers, enforce compliance with regulations, and suspend or revoke licenses if public health is at risk. Centers already operating in New Jersey could apply through a streamlined initial licensing process.
Senator Anthony M. Bucco serves as a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee that approved this measure. He represents the 25th Legislative District in New Jersey and is involved in committee work addressing state issues according to his official website. Bucco also provides constituent services through his district office and participates in sponsoring legislation as detailed on his official legislative page.
