The New Jersey Senate approved bipartisan legislation sponsored by Senator Latham Tiver on May 28 to ensure Burlington County has representation on the South Jersey Transportation Authority Board and a voice in regional transportation decisions.
“From increased development to heavier traffic and growing regional connections, the decisions made by the SJTA impact Burlington County residents every day,” said Senator Tiver. “By ensuring Burlington County has a seat at the table, we are giving more South Jersey communities a voice in shaping the planning and transportation decisions that will impact their daily commute.”
Currently, the South Jersey Transportation Authority includes representatives from Atlantic, Cape May, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties. The bill sponsored by Tiver (A-938/S-3748) would add representation from Burlington County to the board. It would also require that three of the eight SJTA members are residents of areas in South Jersey located outside a 30-mile radius of the Atlantic City International Airport or communities not traversed by the Atlantic City Expressway.
