The New Jersey Department of Transportation announced on April 11 that the Route 9 northbound ramp to the Garden State Parkway northbound and New Jersey Turnpike will be closed this weekend in Woodbridge, Middlesex County. The closure is necessary for bridge repairs as part of a Garden State Parkway project.
This is the first in a series of planned weekend closures to make repairs to the bridge on the Route 9 northbound ramp that goes over Route 9 southbound. The closure will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, with the left lane on Route 9 northbound before the exit also scheduled to close. At least three lanes will remain open on Route 9 northbound during this period.
Starting at 11:59 p.m. Friday, April 10 until Sunday night, April 12, motorists will not be able to access the ramp from Route 9 northbound to either the Garden State Parkway or New Jersey Turnpike. If work is completed ahead of schedule, officials say that the ramp may reopen sooner than planned.
A detour has been established for affected drivers: Motorists should continue on Route 9 northbound, stay right for CR501 westbound/Fords, continue onto Route184 west/West Pond Road through the traffic signal, then stay right for access back onto Garden State Parkway north or New Jersey Turnpike.
For more information about this project or future closures related to these repairs, residents can contact Garden State Parkway at info@njta.com. Motorists are encouraged by officials to check NJDOTās traffic information website at www.511nj.org for updates and real-time travel information.
