The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) has announced that the ramp from North Main Street to Route 15 northbound in Wharton, Morris County will be closed tonight for bridge repairs. The closure will begin at 10 p.m. on Friday, February 20, and continue until 6 a.m. on Saturday, February 21.
During the same period, the left and center lanes on Route 15 southbound will also be closed between mileposts 2.5 and 2.3 while concrete deck repairs are made to the Route 15 southbound Bridge over the ramp to Route 15 northbound.
A detour will be in place for motorists traveling from North Main Street to Route 15 northbound. Drivers will be directed to stay left on North Main Street, turn right onto Route 15 southbound, take the ramp to I-80 eastbound toward New York City, exit at Mount Hope/Dover (Exit 35), turn left onto Mount Hope Avenue/CR 661, take the ramp to I-80 westbound, and then use Exit 34B for Route 15 northbound toward Jefferson or Sparta.
The NJDOT advises motorists to slow down, use caution, and expect delays in the work zone.
These repairs are part of a $12.2 million state-funded maintenance contract focused on improving concrete structures across several counties including Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Union and Warren.
“The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors,” according to NJDOT.
