All lanes on Route 1 in Edison, Middlesex County, have reopened after emergency repairs to a watermain were completed. The closure, which began Monday afternoon near the Raceway gas station before Woodbridge Avenue/CR 514, affected both directions of traffic.

According to the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), two southbound lanes reopened at approximately 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 27. The left lane on Route 1 southbound reopened later that day at around 7:30 p.m. All northbound lanes became accessible again at about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28.

The Route 18 northbound ramp to Route 1 northbound has also been reopened following the completion of repairs.

Edison Water Utility crews worked continuously to restore service and reopen the roadway as quickly as possible.

Motorists are advised to check NJDOT’s traffic information website for construction updates and real-time travel information at www.511nj.org.
